## Cabinet to Approve Signing of High-Speed Rail Contract for 3 Airports in August 2025

**June 8** Keep an eye on the **Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EEC Office)** as it awaits the **Attorney General's** review of the revised **224-billion-baht High-Speed Rail connecting 3 Airports contract** this June. The proposal is expected to be submitted to the Cabinet for approval and signing in **August 2025**.
**Mr. Chula Sukmanop**, Secretary-General of the EEC Policy Committee, provided an update on the **224-billion-baht High-Speed Rail project connecting Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi, and U-Tapao airports**. The project's draft contract is currently under review by the Attorney General, a process expected to take about one month and be completed around mid-June. It will then be presented to the EEC Policy Committee for consideration, followed by submission to the Cabinet for approval. The signing of the amended contract is anticipated by **August 2025**, after a delay of over five years.
The **COVID-19 pandemic** significantly impacted many infrastructure investment projects in the transportation sector, causing disruptions, particularly to the High-Speed Rail project. The **State Railway of Thailand (SRT)** is the project owner, and **Asia Era One Co., Ltd. (CP Group)** is the 50-year concessionaire.

## EEC's Overall Development and Human Resources
Regarding the overall development of the EEC area, the EEC Policy Committee previously collaborated with the **Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO)** to sign a memorandum of understanding. This agreement focuses on **developing an investment ecosystem in special target industries and preparing human resources** to support these industries within the EEC. The collaboration aims to monitor technological trends in the EEC's special target industries and support investments in **advanced technology, innovation, and the enhancement of domestic research and development networks**.
The EEC Secretary-General stated that promoting the development of **high-skilled human resources** aligns with the investment needs of the manufacturing and service sectors. These include industries such as **biofuels and biochemicals, aviation and logistics, digital, integrated medical, and robotics**. To date, these initiatives have created **over 10,684 new jobs** and trained **445,967 people** through **1,205 courses**. - Thai News Agency
