A fatal train accident occurred in Surat Thani, Thailand, on September 29, 2027, at around 7:00 PM. A Sprinter train, No. 44, traveling from Surat Thani to Bangkok, collided with a white Honda City car at a railway crossing in Ban Bang Lam, Tha Chang District.
The impact resulted in two fatalities and two serious injuries. The deceased were identified as Ms. Aranya Pahamak, 52, and her 9-year-old granddaughter, Supatthida Panasee. The injured, Mr. Withaya Panasee, 34, and his wife, Ms. Suchawadee Wisetkaeo, 34, were rushed to Tha Chang Hospital.
The railway crossing where the accident occurred was described as a slope without a barrier, having only flashing lights as a warning signal. Heavy rain at the time of the incident may have obscured the driver's vision of the approaching train.
A witness, identified as "พี่นุช," who lives across the street from the accident site, reported hearing a loud crash resembling thunder. Upon investigation, she discovered the accident and immediately called for help.
The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
