He said that railways development and related projects for 2015 include Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT 2) West Extension (P200 million); North South Commuter Rail project (P300 million); Metro Rail Transit Infrastructure Outlay (P804 million); DOTC Transport Interchanges (P144 million) and Philippine National Railways repair and restoration project (P200 million).
The proposed P200 million for LRT 2 West Extension will extend Line 2 by about 1.62 kilometers from Recto to Delpan, while the P300 million for the North South Commuter Rail project involves project mobilization and right-of-way acquisition for construction of an 89.7 heavy commuter rail from Malolos, Bulacan, to Calamba, Laguna.
The budget of P7.2 billion for foreign-assisted railway development projects will finance LRT Line 1 Extension to Cavite (P4.8 billion) and LRT Line 2 Extension to Masinag (P2.4 billion), he said.
Abaya, however, said that mass- transport subsidy will increase by 11.6 percent to P4.6 billion in 2015 from P4.1 billion in 2014.
