Planned railways in Mainland Southeast Asian Mainland as proposed by Mr. Hallet in 1886 along with French imperialists which had been published by Cambridge University Press in 1890.
However, the railway that head to Chiangmai via Rahaeng (Tak) along Ping river has not been conceived at all since Siamese government had decided to follow the course of Nan River after reaching Paknam Pho in 1905 to reach Phitsanulok in 1908, Uttaradit in 1909, Denchai in 1912, Lampang in 1916 and Chiangmai in 1922 using the loan 💷 and budget surplus 💰. This Siamese policies had effectively starved Maulmain while strengthening the Royal Siamese Army based in Paknam Pho, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit before moving the troops to set the skeletal structure in Denchai, Lampang, Chiangmai before further reinforcements after the railway 🛤️ had reached Chiangmai while helping to improve the old dirt track or forest trials 🌳 into Highway from Lampang to Maesai via Phayao and Chiang Rai as one of early sections of Phahonyothin road (Highway No. 1) which later extended to Tak via Ko Kha and Thoen 🛣️ along with the road from Denchai to Phrae and Nan (Highway No. 101) which later extended to reach Sawankhalok and Sukhothai. There was also the dirt road for oxcart track from Phitsanulok to Sukhothai which later being upgraded to Highway 🛣️ which has become the early section of Highway No. 12 before further extension to Tak via Ban Dan Larn Hoy.
For the railway from Hanoi to Maulmain via Luang Phrabang, Pak Lay, Uttaradit, Rahaeng, it has not been conceived at all. Furthermore, the planned railway from Saigon to Phnom Penh via My Tho had been terminated at My Tho due to technological limitations to deal with the railway bridges across Mekong River and the swampy areas of Mekong delta.

"รถพยาบาล" รพ.๑ สัญลักษณ์แห่งเอื้ออาทร ตู้รถไฟโดยสารนี้ผลิต โดย บริษัท The MetroPolitan Amalgamated Birmingham ประเทศอังกฤษ กรมรถไฟหลวงนำเข้ามาใช้งานในช่วงปี พ.ศ.2455 สมัยต้นรัชกาลที่ 6 เพื่อใช้ในการดูแลรักษาผู้ป่วยที่อยู่ในพื้นที่ส่วนภูมิภาค
ภายในตู้โดยสารมีเตียงสำหรับผู้ป่วยจำนวน 8 เตียง ห้องเก็บอุปกรณ์การแพทย์ ห้องสุขา หน้าต่างติดมุ้งลวด มีประตูทางขึ้นลงอยู่ตรงกลางตู้โดยสาร
ปัจจุบันมีอายุ 111 ปี เป็นรถโดยสารไม้สักเก่าแก่ที่มีเหลือไม่ถึง 10 คันในประเทศไทย อดีตจัดแสดงไว้ที่หอเกียรติภูมิรถไฟในสวนจตุจักร ปัจจุบันนำมาจัดแสดงไว้ที่โรงเก็บรถจักรประวัติศาสตร์ ภายในโรงงานมักกะสัน
