Zhangjiakou Railway Station, which is 105 years old, will no longer receive and send passengers starting July 1, 2014, according to the Beijing News.
The station was the terminus of the first railway between Beijing and Zhangjiakou in northern China's Hebei province. The commuting service began to be handed over to Zhangjiakou South Station, which was built in 1956.
A part of the inner-city railway crossing over residential areas and schools in the downtown area, and being the bottleneck for the city's construction, are the reasons for the retirement of the railway station.
However, the Station will keep selling train tickets.
