Hello
I understand that part of this line is closed for rebuilding. Does anyone know when it will reopen. I will be in Thailand during January 2016 and would like to travel to Mae Klong.
I will also be in Bangkok at the start of December and wonder whether train 909 to Nam Tok will run on December 10th.
Thank you in advance for any information. |

Hello
SRT closed Maeklong railway (from Ban Laem Station on the bank of Tha Chin River to Maeklong Station on the bank of Maeklong River : 33 km) for rehabilitation work for 180 days - between 13 May and 08 Nov 2015 (originally planned). However, the completion of rehab work is delayed and there is still no official notice for the reopening date.
In my opinion, I estimate it is going to take at least 2 months from now before line reopening.
Here is the situation of rehab work updated by Khun Srinopkun.

Dec 10 is Thai Public Holiday, I think that train 909 will run as usual.

BTW, you had better carry a big bottle of cool drinking water if you want to take that weekend special train 909/910 to Nam Tok though to quench your thirst and deal with the dust which will become dust storm when the train has passed the dusty track - I can testify for that as I have taken this Special train 909/910 several times. |

Hello
Thank you Mongwin & Wisarut for your helpful replies.
Can you tell me whether any of the Krupp 31xx locomotives regularly haul any passenger trains. I was told that trains 352/351 from/to Ratchaburi were possible. Also that they may work around Hat Yai.
Thanks once again for any information. |
