เกิดเหตุเพลิงไหม้สถานีรถไฟความเร็วสูงในซาอุดิอาระเบีย

หน่วยงานป้องกันภัยฝ่ายพลเรือนของซาอุดิอาระเบียเปิดเผยในวันนี้ว่าเกิดเหตุเพลิงไหม้ สถานีรถไฟความเร็วสูงฮาราเมน ในเมืองเจดดาห์ เมืองชายฝั่งของซาอุดิอาระเบียแต่ยังไม่มีรายงานผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บออกมาในทันที ขณะนี้เจ้าหน้าที่กำลังเร่งดับเพลิงอยู่ ด้านสถานีโทรทัศน์อัล-อราบิยาของซาอุดิอาระเบียแพร่ภาพวีดีโอ เป็นภาพควันดำลอยขึ้นจากหลังคาสถานี และมีเฮลิคอปเตอร์บินอยู่ใกล้ๆ โดยเพลิงไหม้เริ่มขึ้นเมื่อเวลา12.35น.ตามเวลาท้องถิ่น สถานีรถไฟความเร็วสูงแห่งนี้มีเส้นทางเชื่อมต่อกับเมืองศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของชาวมุสลิม2เมืองได้แก่ เมกกะ และเมดินา เปิดทำการเมื่อเดือนกันยายนปีก่อน อันเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของความพยายามกระตุ้นรายได้จากการท่องเที่ยว เพื่อชดเชยรายได้จากการส่งออกน้ำมันที่ลดลง
ใช้เวลาสิบปีสร้างสถานีเจดดาห์ แต่ ไฟไหม้แค่ 10 นาทีก็เปาสถานีเสียราบ

ทางรถไฟสายฮิญาจซ์ (Hejaz Railway) หรือ Hicaz Demiryolu ในภาษาตุรกี เป็นทางรถไฟขนาดทางกว้าง 1,050 มิลลิเมตร วิ่งจากดามัสกัส (เมืองหลวงของประเทศซีเรียในปัจจุบัน) ไปยังเมืองเมดินา ในประเทศซาอุดิอาระเบียในปัจจุบัน ระยะทาง 1,320 กิโลเมตร
ตามแผนแล้วจะสร้างเชื่อมเมืองอิสตัลบูลในประเทศตุรกีไปยังเมืองเมกกะ แต่ไม่สำเร็จ
เริ่มเปิดเดินรถในปี 1908 และยุติการเดินรถในปี 1920 เนื่องจากพิษภัยของสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 1
สถานีปลายทางที่เมืองเมดินาได้รับการปรับปรุงเป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์ตั้งแต่ปี 2006
เหรียญกษาปณ์ที่ระลึก ปี 2011 ประเทศตุรกี ชนิดราคา 50 Lira เงินขัดเงา ออกใช้เมื่อ 20 กันยายน 2011 น้ำหนัก 31.47 กรัม เส้นผ่าศูนย์กลาง 38.61 มิลลิเมตร ภาพรถจักรไอน้ำ แผนที่ทางรถไฟสายฮิญาจซ์ และอาคารสถานีรถไฟเมดินา จำนวนผลิต 3,000 เหรียญ

Riyadhs 176-kilometre new metro opens this weekend, taking the title of the worlds longest driverless transit system. The vast network features six lines and 85 stations, including the six platform King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) Station, a key interchange designed by Zaha Hadid Architects (pictured).
The stations concrete lattice facade is inspired by the patterns of desert sands and designed to reduce solar gain while nodding to the regions vernacular architecture. The building has achieved a LEED Gold rating from the US Green Building Council.
The new Riyadh Metro has a capacity of 3.6M passengers a day.

Saudi Arabia launches first phase of Riyadh Metro project
Saudi Arabia has opened the first operational phase of the Riyadh Metro, with three lines available to the public from December 1. The major project is intended to help shift the car-centric kingdom to public transport.
