SRT is introducing a new "Waiting List" feature for train ticket reservations. This allows passengers to join a reserve list for trains that are already fully booked. Starting today, if other passengers cancel or return their tickets, the system will immediately notify those on the Waiting List, offering them the opportunity to book the newly available seats.
Mr. Ekarat Sriarayanphong, Head of the Governor's Office at the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), explained that this new feature aligns with the policy of Mr. Suraphong Piyachote, Deputy Minister of Transport, to enhance passenger convenience. By opting for the Waiting List, passengers have a better chance of securing a seat on their desired train, even if it initially appears sold out.
How to Use the Waiting List:
○ Be a Verified Member: Ensure you have a verified account in the D-Ticket system.
○ Booking Online (I-Ticket/M-Ticket): If a train is full when booking online, the "Waiting List" option will appear. Click it to join the list.
○ Booking at Stations: Inform the ticket staff you'd like to be on the Waiting List if the train is full. Provide your D-Ticket linked phone number.
○ Notification and Booking: If a seat becomes available, you'll receive an email with a reservation code. You have 3 hours to purchase the ticket online (I-Ticket/M-Ticket) or at any station.
○ The Waiting List is available for trains requiring advance reservation, such as special express, express, fast, and tour trains.
Mr. Ekarat expressed hope that this new feature will effectively meet passenger needs and provide greater flexibility in booking travel.
