Sam Yot Station: Transfer Point for the Purple Line | Blue Line (May 2024)
The Purple Line MRT project, spanning from Tao Poon to Rat Burana and Kanchanaphisek Ring Road, includes an underground station located beneath Maha Chai Road, in front of Rommaninat Park. This station is directly connected to the Blue Line MRT project since the two stations are structurally linked, allowing passengers to transfer without leaving the station. The connecting distance between the stations is 150 meters.
The ITD-NWR MRT Joint Venture, the contractor responsible for the design and construction of the running tunnels and underground stations for the Purple Line MRT project (Tao Poon - Rat Burana, Kanchanaphisek Ring Road), has implemented traffic diversions on Maha Chai Road, from the Reuankaem Intersection to the Sam Yot Intersection. Vehicles heading to the Sam Yot Intersection can use one lane.
Recently, an additional traffic diversion was implemented on the inbound side of Maha Chai Road, from the Hor Wan area to the Sam Yot Intersection, to facilitate soil quality improvement and tunnel excavation. This diversion, in effect 24 hours a day from May 3 to June 30, 2024, allows traffic to flow through three lanes. As of the end of April 2024, the civil work for Contract 3 (Phan Fa - Phutthaisawan Bridge) is 28.42% complete.
The Purple Line MRT project from Tao Poon to Rat Burana, Kanchanaphisek Ring Road, is scheduled to open in 2028.

The contractor is responsible for building the runway, elevated station, electric car parking building, and park-and-ride building.
Temporary Traffic Diversion and Construction Schedule
A temporary traffic diversion has been implemented on the inbound side of Suksawat Road, reducing it to two lanes from the SUSCO gas station to the ISUZU car sales center, a distance of approximately 200 meters. This diversion is necessary for assembling and installing beams for lifting workpieces. The nighttime work schedule runs from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM between May 22 and July 31, 2024. During this period, the inbound side will have one traffic lane, while the outbound side will have three lanes.

BEM Approaches Turning Point with Orange Line, Purple Line Extension, and Double-Deck Expressway Projects
Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) is on the brink of a significant transformation. The company anticipates signing the Orange Line project contract within the year, pending a Supreme Administrative Court ruling. BEM plans to invest 30 billion baht in electric trains and systems for the project, with the government investing 90 billion baht in civil works.
Additionally, BEM is negotiating a contract to operate the Purple Line extension (Tao Poon - Rat Burana section) and expects to conclude discussions by the end of 2025. BEM is also in talks with the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) regarding a double-deck expressway project, with a potential investment of 35 billion baht.
These projects represent a turning point for BEM, potentially doubling its asset base and expanding its electric train and expressway portfolios. Positive outcomes in the Orange Line and Purple Line negotiations would secure the company's growth for the next 30 years.
BEM's managing director, Mr. Sombat Kitjalak, anticipates average revenue growth of 5% and profit growth of 3% over the next five years (2024-2071). In 2024, BEM aims for total revenue of 18 billion baht and profits exceeding 3.6 billion baht. The company also expects daily Blue Line ridership to increase to 440,000 trips and expressway traffic volume to reach 1.17 million trips.
While the Blue Line has not yet broken even, BEM believes it will do so once the Orange Line opens. The company is confident in its ability to control expenses, manage financial costs, and achieve continued profit growth. BEM is also exploring opportunities to participate in the O&M management of at least one motorway route.
BEM's current income structure consists of 60% expressway business, 35% electric trains and commercial areas, and 5% dividends from investments in CK group companies. The company aims to maintain its S-curve profit growth through efficient operations, technological advancements, and effective human resource management.

As a result, Samsen Road at the diversion area from the Wachira Intersection towards the Sanghi Intersection will be reduced to two lanes. On Ratchawithi Road, the diversion area from the Sanghi Intersection towards the Karuehan Intersection will be reduced to one lane, and from the Karuehan Intersection towards the Sanghi Intersection, it will be reduced to two lanes.
The traffic diversion for this work may cause inconvenience to road users and generate noise disturbances in the nearby areas during the specified period. Therefore, if travel is not necessary, please avoid these routes. The MRTA apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
