Deputy Transport Minister Visits Pattani to Boost Tourism Infrastructure
Pattani, Thailand April 24, 2024 Deputy Minister of Transport Suraphong Piyachote visited Pattani Province today, accompanied by Pol. Col. Thawee, to explore improvements to the region's transportation network as a way to stimulate tourism. The visit supports Prime Minister Settha Thavisin's policy of enhancing travel to key tourist destinations along the cultural route known as "A-Rom-Dee."
Mr. Piyachote outlined the plans to develop the area's public bus system, making it easier for tourists to navigate the region and learn about Pattani's unique multicultural heritage. The Pattani Provincial Transport Office presented a plan to redefine existing bus routes to better serve visitors, specifically focusing on the route to Laem Ta Chi.
Additionally, AEROTHAI (Aeronautical Radio of Thailand) is conducting a feasibility study on introducing seaplane services at Laem Ta Chi. This innovative transportation mode aims to reduce travel time, attract higher-end tourists, and create new travel routes within Thailand.
The State Railway of Thailand will also explore ways to develop its stations at Thepha, Wat Chang Hai, Yala, and Su-ngai Kolok into tourist attractions, supporting the government's goal of promoting day-trip tourism within the three southern border provinces.
Two Thai Military Officers Die in River Accident During Patrol

Bangkok, Thailand Two Thai military officers tragically died today after being swept away by strong currents during a patrol mission along the Sai Buri River in the Rue So District.
The officers have been identified as:
Capt. Chulaphong Thapmeechai, Company Commander, Royal Thai Army 4608.
Thahan Phran Mr. Sulaiman Dimadi
The incident occurred on the morning of April 30, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m. The officers were on a routine patrol along a railway route when they lost their footing and fell into the river. The strong current carried them away, despite their weapons and equipment.
A search and rescue operation was immediately launched. Thahan Phran Mr. Sulaiman Dimadi's body was recovered at 4:20 p.m. Capt. Chulaphong Thapmeechai's body was found shortly after at 5:09 p.m.

At 06:22 AM on June 11, the station master at Maruebo Railway Station in Ra-ngae District, Narathiwat Province, reported finding a suspicious red bag placed in the middle of the track on the south side of the iron bridge, about 300 meters from Maruebo Railway Station. Train services were suspended from 06:45 AM, and the 45th Ranger Task Force and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were contacted for inspection.
Initially, this incident has impacted passengers on train No. 448, Sungai Kolok-Surat Thani, which had to wait at Tanyong Mat Railway Station, and train No. 453, Yala-Sungai Kolok, which had to wait at Maruebo Railway Station. The authorities will reopen the route once security forces have cleared it.

At 6:40 AM on June 11, Mr. Thananon Boonsawas, the station master at Maruebo Railway Station, Rangae District, Narathiwat Province, received a report from the village head, who, along with soldiers from Ranger Company 4506, was patrolling the railway. They discovered a suspicious red bag with a Coca-Cola logo placed on the railway track at kilometer marker 1089, between Maruebo and Tanyongmas stations, Moo 1, Maruebo Tok Subdistrict, Rangae District. The authorities were notified, and train services were halted: train 453 from Yala to Su-ngai Kolok at Maruebo Station and train 448 from Su-ngai Kolok to Surat Thani at Tanyongmas Station.
Colonel Surasak Phungyaem, commander of Task Force 45, and the explosive ordnance disposal unit arrived at Maruebo Station to plan the investigation. Mr. Thananon, the station master, inquired with the local residents, and one identified the bag as likely belonging to a mentally ill man frequently seen carrying it around. The village head was asked to check on this man at his home, where he was found and brought to the station.
The man, identified as Mr. Abu Kori Jeauseng, 43, explained that he had gone to the bridge the previous night and forgotten his bag there. Officials escorted him to retrieve the bag, which contained only his clothes.
Mr. Abu Kori was taken to Ranger Company 4506 for detailed questioning and profiling before being released to his relatives. Once the situation was resolved, Mr. Thananon coordinated with Tanyongmas station to resume the halted train services, allowing them to continue their regular passenger operations.

This movement is in preparation for celebrating the Eid al-Adha festival with their families.
Following the announcement by Mr. Arun Boonchom, the Sheikhul Islam, that Eid al-Adha in the Islamic year 1445 will fall on Monday, June 17, 2024, security and convenience measures are being strictly enforced by railway officials, railway police, and volunteer officers.
Eid al-Adha, also known as Hari Raya Haji, is a feast of sacrifice celebrated by Muslims worldwide. It involves the ritual slaughtering of animals (cows, sheep, goats, camels), with the meat divided into three parts: one-third for the family, one-third for friends and relatives, and one-third for the needy and poor. This tradition emphasizes sharing and solidarity with others.
