Kereta Api Indonesia Ready to Host the 44th ASEAN Railways CEO's Conference
Indonesia will host the 44th ASEAN Railways CEO's Conference (ARCEO's Conference) which will be held on 2-6 September 2024. ARCEO's Conference is an annual meeting agenda for 8 railway operators in the ASEAN region and observers from railway-related companies. The 8 train operator companies are Kereta Api Tanah Melayu Berhad Malaysia (KTMB), State Railways of Thailand (SRT), Vietnam Railways (VNR), Ministry of Public Works and Transport Railway Department (Cambodia), Lao National Railway (LNR), Myanmar Railways (MR), Philippine National Railways (PNR), and Kereta Api Indonesia itself.
KAI is committed to preparing these activities well as the organizer of the 44th ARCEO's Conference, one of which is by carrying out courtesy visits to all ASEAN Railway participating countries as a series of preparations for the 44th ARCEO's Conference and to strengthen relations between railway companies in Southeast Asian countries.
Courtesy visits to Hanoi, Vientiane, Manila, Yangon, Bangkok, Malaysia and Cambodia will be carried out in stages from 03 June 2024 to 22 June 2024 by all KAI Directors accompanied by the ARCEO Committee, making visits to the head office of the train operator, technical visits to stations for study appeals and visits to the Indonesian Embassy. This visit also discussed the potential for cooperation and the need for sharing knowledge between operators for the development of railways in Southeast Asia.
ARCEO spokesperson for KAI, Anne, said "The Courtesy visit was welcomed by every train operator in every country, even the secretary of the Cambodian Minister received us well and explained their long-term plans for developing railways in Cambodia. "We also directly gave invitations to the 44th ARCEO's Conference and conveyed the agenda that would be implemented during the ARCEO's Conference."
The theme carried at the 44th ARCEO's Conference is Driving Sustainability with Digital Innovation. This theme supports sustainable, environmentally friendly railway development supported by digital transformation in safety and future services. Train operators in the Asean region are very enthusiastic about attending the 44th ARCEO's Conference in Indonesia.
The visit to the Indonesian Embassy was also intended to build friendship and ask for diplomatic support for the success of the 44th ARCEO's Conference in Indonesia.
"KAI is making this moment not only a forum for discussing various technical aspects and development of railways in ASEAN, but also inviting cooperation in the development of railways in ASEAN. Delegates will also be given experience from Indonesia, including riding the first high-speed train in ASEAN Whoosh and the Panoramic Train. Apart from that, we will "introducing Indonesian culture and inviting the Delegation to support environmental programs by planting trees at train stations as a commitment to support protecting the environment," Anne explained.

PT Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) said that one of the causes of losses incurred by the company in 2023 was caused by the Jakarta-Bandung Whoosh Fast Train project.

PT PSBI is a subsidiary of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (KAI) which holds 60% of the shares in PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC).
According to WIKA's 2023 financial report, a number of WIKA's expenses were recorded to have increased. Most significantly, other expenses increased 310.16% to IDR 5.40 trillion and financial expenses increased 133.70% to IDR 3.20 trillion in 2023.
