Today (September 5, 2024) at 08:30 AM, Mr. Songphon Jaikrim, Governor of Roi Et Province, along with the Deputy Governor of Roi Et Province and heads of government agencies, welcomed the Project Manager of the Railway Construction Project and the delegation from the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) at the Bon Phan Khan Reception Room on the 2nd floor of the Roi Et Provincial Hall.
Mr. Songphon Jaikrim, Governor of Roi Et Province, stated that the Cabinet had approved the SRT to proceed with the construction of the Ban Phai - Mahasarakham - Roi Et - Mukdahan - Nakhon Phanom railway line as part of the project under the Thailand Transport Infrastructure Development Strategy Plan 2015-2020. This project falls within the Intercity Railway Development Plan (New Route Development) Phase 3, involving the construction of a new railway line with a total distance of approximately 355 kilometers. The railway structure will consist of both ground-level double tracks and elevated tracks, divided into 2 contracts:
* Contract 1: Ban Phai - Nong Phok Section The project route starts in the Ban Phai district of Khon Kaen province, passing through the districts of Kud Rang, Borabue, Mueang Mahasarakham, Si Somdet, Mueang Roi Et, Changhan, Chiang Khwan, Pho Chai, Phon Thong, and Mae Wat in Roi Et province, ending in the Nong Phok district of Roi Et province.
* Contract 2: Nong Phok - 3rd Friendship Bridge Section The project route starts in the Loeng Nok Tha district of Yasothon province, passing through the districts of Nikhom Kham Soi and Mueang Mukdahan in Mukdahan province, and the districts of Wan Yai, That Phanom, Renu Nakhon, and Mueang Nakhon Phanom in Nakhon Phanom province, ending at the 3rd Friendship Bridge in Nakhon Phanom province.
The SRT has already commenced the construction of the Ban Phai - Mahasarakham - Roi Et - Mukdahan - Nakhon Phanom railway line. To ensure that the construction progresses according to the project plan and objectives, the SRT is actively publicizing and providing information about the project to the general public.

Expected Accumulated Goal: 23.557%
Expected Actual Goal: 0.223%
Delayed planned goal by 23.334% (-23.334% progress)
Note: the delays have everything to do with the delays on land expropriation due to the conflicting demands from the landowners vs. Ministry of Finance
who pay for the land expropriation. he landowners still refuse to accept the compensation since the compensation payments are too low to satisfy them
which need the settlements by the Court ruling. Hope that this line will be done in December 2027.
