Get ready for the "Floating Train at Pa Sak Jolasid Dam, the only one in Thailand" trip! Ticket reservations open tomorrow, October 24th, for this unique experience. Trips run every Saturday and Sunday for three months, from November 2024 to January 2025. Fan carriages are priced at 350 baht, while air-conditioned carriages are 620 baht.
Mr. Wirith Amrapal, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), announced that starting tomorrow (October 24th) at 8:30 AM, the SRT will open advance ticket reservations through the D-Ticket system and at all train stations nationwide. This "Floating Train" journey offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the cool breeze and scenic views of the dam. The unseen railway route, Bangkok-Pa Sak Jolasid Dam-Bangkok, stretches 24 kilometers over the reservoir.
The train travels along the dam, skimming the surface of the reservoir, creating the illusion of floating on water. This round-trip day trip operates every Saturday and Sunday throughout November 2024 to January 2025, specifically on these dates: November 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30; December 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22; and January 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26, 2025. (Except for the New Year holidays on December 28-29, 2024, and January 4-5, 2025) for a total of 21 days.
The train offers various carriage options, including regular 3rd class with fans, air-conditioned OTOP carriages, and air-conditioned JR-WEST carriages with sleeper berths. Fares are the same for adults and children:
The train departs Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong) at 6:00 AM, with stops at Bang Sue Junction, Don Mueang, Rangsit, Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Kaeng Khoi Junction, and Kaeng Suea Ten stations. It reaches the "floating train" viewpoint at 9:25 AM, where it stops for 20 minutes, allowing passengers to enjoy the scenery and take photos. The train then stops at Khok Salung Station for 30 minutes, where passengers can purchase local OTOP products and souvenirs from Lopburi province. The train returns to Pa Sak Jolasid Dam at 10:35 AM.
Passengers can enjoy various activities at their leisure, such as strolling along the reservoir, visiting the Pa Sak River Basin Museum, taking a worm train ride, paying respects to the Big Buddha statue, and enjoying food and shopping at local community shops. Public vans are also available for exploring nearby attractions like sunflower fields, giant fern gardens, and nature-themed cafes. The train departs from Pa Sak Jolasid Dam at 3:30 PM and arrives back at Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong) at 6:50 PM.

Today (November 3rd) marks the first day that the State Railway of Thailand, in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Lopburi Province, launched a sightseeing train route featuring the "floating train" to welcome the tourist season. The journey offers a chance to experience the cool breeze amidst the Pasak Jolasid Dam in Lopburi.
The special train, No. 921, departed from Hua Lamphong Railway Station in Bangkok at 6:00 AM, carrying over 900 tourists to the final destination of Ban Kok Salung Station in Phatthana Nikhom District, Lopburi Province.
The highlight of this unique route is the 24-kilometer stretch across the Pasak Jolasid Dam reservoir, where the train appears to glide over the water's surface. This provides a breathtaking experience for tourists to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the reservoir. The train makes a stop on the bridge in the middle of the reservoir, allowing passengers to capture photos and enjoy the refreshing atmosphere.
Upon arrival at Ban Kok Salung Station, tourists disembarked to explore, shop, and savor local cuisine, souvenirs, and OTOP products offered by villagers at affordable prices.
The train then departs from Ban Kok Salung Station and stops at Pasak Jolasid Dam Railway Station, where tourists can explore the dam, also known as the "King's Dam," by taking a tram ride along the dam crest. They can also visit other attractions near the dam.
