Veeris Inspects Wongwian Yai-Mahachai Area, Plans Community Development Along Railway in Talat Phlu

Veeris Ammarapala, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), inspected the Wongwian Yai - Mahachai - Samut Sakhon Diesel Rail Depot area to prepare for community development in the Talat Phlu district of Bangkok. This initiative aims to enhance service efficiency and cater to the needs of this key economic area in the western region.
Mr. Ammarapala stated that the SRT is working to improve the Talat Phlu community into a tourist destination while maximizing service efficiency, convenience, and safety for passengers. The suburban train service connecting Bangkok with Samut Sakhon province is crucial as it serves one of the main economic areas in the western region.
"I have instructed SRT officials, both at the central and regional levels, to collaborate in developing and maintaining areas along the railway, including railway lines, stations, factories, and employee housing. This will ensure orderliness, safety, and enhance the organization's image, as well as the quality of life for surrounding communities. This is a key factor in encouraging continuous public transport use," said Mr. Ammarapala.
The Wongwian Yai - Talat Phlu - Mahachai line currently operates 34 trains daily (round trip), serving approximately 8,800 passengers per day. The majority of passengers are working adults, students, and those commuting between Bangkok and Samut Sakhon. This rail service provides a convenient, safe, and cost-effective alternative to the often congested Rama 2 Road, promoting rail transport as a viable option for the public.
