The Highways Department is preparing to propose the Bang Bua Thong - Bang Pa-In motorway project to the Cabinet for approval by mid-year. The project, worth 15 billion baht, aims to alleviate traffic congestion and connect with the Bang Khun Thian - Bang Bua Thong motorway. Construction bidding is expected to open in July 2025.
The Department of Highways is expediting several motorway projects, including the M9 Outer Bangkok Ring Road. This is due to heavy traffic congestion on Kanchanaphisek Road, especially in the Bang Yai - Bang Khun Thian section. The area has seen significant development on both sides, leading to severe traffic problems during rush hour, holidays, and long weekends.

* M9 West Outer Bangkok Ring Road, Bang Bua Thong - Bang Pa-In Section:
* Length: 35 kilometers
* Investment: 15.862 billion baht (7.123 billion from budget, 8.739 billion from motorway tolls)

The M9 Outer Bangkok Ring Road (Bang Khun Thian - Bang Bua Thong) will start at the Bang Khun Thian Interchange, connecting to:

* Bang Khun Thian - Ban Phaeo Motorway (M82)
* Rama 3 - Dao Khanong - Outer Bangkok Ring Road Expressway
The route will head north, passing the Mae Klong railway line with interchanges connecting to:
* Rama 2 Road
* Ekachai Road
* Kallaprapruk Road
* Petchkasem Road
* Phran Nok - Phutthamonthon Sai 4 Road
* Borommaratchachonnani Road
* Sirat Expressway - Outer Bangkok Ring Road
* Nakhon In Road
* Bang Yai Interchange (connecting to M81 Bang Yai - Kanchanaburi Motorway)
The route will run parallel to the Purple Line MRT, passing Bang Yai Market Station and Khlong Phai Station. It will end approximately 1 kilometer from the Bang Bua Thong Interchange.
