## SRT Governor Orders Investigation into 100kg Ice Seizure on Train
**Manager Online, January 18, 2025, 3:51 PM**
Veeris Ammarapala, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), revealed that following the seizure of over 100 kg of crystal methamphetamine (ice) worth over 200 million baht by police officers from Prachuap Khiri Khan City Police Station and officials from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) Region 7, it was reported that the drugs were transported on a special freight train No. 985 from Bang Sue Junction Station to Hat Yai Junction Station.
According to the railway freight transport form, the shipment was declared as curry paste and riceberry rice. However, the sender later requested to have the goods unloaded at Prachuap Khiri Khan Station instead. Although the goods were unloaded at Prachuap Khiri Khan Station as requested, officials noticed irregularities and the lack of a recipient's name on the package. They immediately alerted the police to inspect the package, which led to the discovery of the ice.
Mr. Ammarapala stated that suspects have been taken in for questioning, and further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the drug trafficking network.
Following the incident, the SRT Governor has ordered all relevant departments to urgently investigate the transportation of goods on trains. He also urged officials to strictly adhere to regulations and intensify inspections of goods on all trains to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future and to build confidence among passengers.
Mr. Ammarapala further commended the SRT officials for their vigilance and prompt coordination with the police upon discovering the irregularities. He also urged SRT officials to fully cooperate with the police in the investigation and emphasized the importance of collaboration with external agencies, especially the police, to effectively integrate efforts in preventing illegal activities on trains.
