NAY PYI TAW, 1 May- Uni0n Minister for Science and Technology U Aye Myint, accompanied by Deputy Minister for Construction U Soe Tint, inspected the Kyweshin- Pantin road section of the NayPyiTaw-Taungnyo- Chaungnet-Taungdwingyi Road yesterday.
For road safety, the road section which is 7 miles and two furlongs long is being upgraded to the two lanes road which would be 24 ft wide. Upon completion, the road section would link between the Yangon- NayPyiTaw-Mandalay Highway and Nay Pyi Taw and would become the main entrance from Mandalay, Magway and Rakhine State.
During the tour, the Uni0n minister and party inspected road works and construction of drains and conduit pipes along the road section.
In the afternoon, they visited Ayeyawady Bridge (Malun) construction project. Ayeyawady Bridge (Malun) is 3215 ft long and it is a rail-cum-road bridge. The iron beams produced by the steel mail under the Myanma Economic Corporation are used to construct the bridge.
The bridge would link the Pathein-Pakokku Railroad on the west bank of Ayeyawady River and the Yangon-Pyay-Taungdwingyi- Bagan-Myingyan Railroad on the east bank of the river. During the visit, the Uni0n minister and party inspected pillars, the approach road on Malun bank and road works. They also inspected the installation of iron beams on the main portion of the bridge.
YANGON, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's ethnic Kachin Independence Army(KIA) has blast more track in Mogaung township of northernmost Kachin state over the last two days, official media reported Saturday.
The rail track, which was blown off on Thursday, lies between Hsarhmaw and Htobu stations in the township, said the New Light of Myanmar.
Along with the rail tracks, a concrete sleeper and a wooden sleeper were also destroyed.
After the blast, exchange of fire occurred between a security unit and the KIA, the report said.
The damaged portion of the rail track is urgently under repair by the government engineering group, the report added.
On April 29, a mine explosion occurred with a carriage of an express passenger train on Mandalay-Myitkyina rail route in Kachin state at a location near Moenyin, injuring two people.
Eight coaches of the express train were derailed due to the explosion when the train was heading from Mandalay to Myitkyina and reaching at a location between Nantsiaung and Mawhan railway station near Moenyin township.
On May 1, mine attacks were launched by the KIA, destroying a number of rail tracks and nine sleepers on Myikyina-Mandalay railroad in the state.
Over the last few days, the KIA had also blown off three bridges in the state in a series of exchange of fire with the government forces.
The three bridges include Dunban Bridge on the Myitgyina-Chepwe road, a concrete bridge on the Waingmaw -Hsadon-Kanpaikti road and a bailey bridge near Warazut village on the Myitgyina-Tanaing road.
The series of incidents happened amid peace talks between the government's peace making group and the KIA.
Although three rounds of peace talks have been held in China's border town of Ruili between Myanmar's central government and the KIA, the fightings are still getting intensified, forcing more than 60,000 people to flee the clashes.

KIA (Kachin) armed group destroys rail track in Mogaun

NAY PYI TAW, 4 May- KIA (Kachin) armed group blasted the rail track between Hsarhmaw and Htobu stations in Mogaung Township, Kachin State, yesterday, destroying about a feet of the track, a concrete slipper and a wodden slipper at the mile post No. 677/10.
After the blast happened around 8.20 pm, there occured an exhange of fire between a security unit for rail tracks and the KIA armed group.
An engineering group of Myanma Railways from Mogaung Station reached the site yesterday night to repair the damaged portion of the track.
KIA armed group has destroyed roads, bridges and rail tracks which are non-military targets. The local people and peoples across the country want the KIA to stop their destructive acts as the attacks have affected and hindered the socio-economy of the local people.-MNA

Plan to clear piles of garbage along railroads before rainy season
YANGON, 9 May-Piles of garbage along Yangon circular railroad and other dirty places will be cleaned before rainy season as a plan, said an official of Myanma Railways.
Travellers face difficulty due to bad smell in the rainy season. Along the circular railroad of Yangon, there are about 135 piles of garbage.
These garbage piles hazard to the people. So, Myanma Railways adopted an emergency plan of clearing the garbage piles, said an official.
Garbage piles have located along the railroads for many decades. Although sanitation tasks were carried out yearly, the piles of garbage appeared there due to undisciplined garbage throwers.
As most of the garbage piles are located adjacent to the railroad, the passengers know what they need to cover their noses at the railway stations. The garbage piles are located near the markets, extended and wards of squatters. Last three days, these piles of garbage have been cleared, said a traveler from North Okkalapa Township.
Myanma Railways and Sanitation Department of Yangon City Development Committee are joining hands in clearing debris. Before the rainy season, over 100 piles of garbage will be cleared systematically, said officials of Sanitation Department of YCDC.
While clearing garbage bins along the rail trucks, Myanma Railways will keep garbage bins in the local trains for prioritizing sanitation.
As fare of train is cheaper than that of bus, the local people inside and outside the city rely on rail transportation.
At present, the number of train passengers is equal to that of bus.-Thunn Watthan

The historic Burma Railway, originally built by Japanese-held prisoners of war (POWs) during World War II, is due to be restored in a new initiative which aims to improve bilateral trade with Thailand.
Burmese Railway Minister Aung Min, also a leading government peace negotiator, told the opening ceremony of the Karen National Uni0n (KNU) liaison office in Three Pagodas Pass on Tuesday that talks were already underway with Thailand regarding construction of the railway.
Measuring 415 kilometers (258 miles) from Bangkok to Rangoon, Aung Min said that the project will also benefit the businesses of local people who live near Three Pagodas Pass. However, the railway project hinges on Naypyidaw securing a lasting peace deal with the Karen rebels.
Our citizens will only have to make a daytrip to Thailand after construction is completed, said Aung Min. Local development will also grow much more than before.
In 1943, thousands of Allied POWs and Asian laborers worked under the Imperial Japanese Army on what became known as the Death Railway. Around 1,740 people were killed during the construction process with many buried at nearby Kanchanaburis war cemetery.
The railway was abandoned over six decades ago due to fighting between the KNU and government troops. But local car drivers continue to use the route to travel from Three Pagodas Pass to Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State, or Kyar Inn Seik Gyi Township, Karen State. Aung Min said that the government will soon restart construction of the abandoned railway and so private vehicles would be forbidden from using the route, but that a dedicated road would be built alongside for cars.
Naypyidaw also has plans to open a Special Economic Zone in Three Pagodas Pass to aid local development, according to Nai Seik Lyi, a representative from the New Mon State Party.
Three Pagodas Pass is the KNUs second liaison office after one was opened in Dawei (Tavoy) earlier this year. Around 400 people including Gen Mutu Say Poe, head of the Karen National Liberation Armythe KNUs military wing, attended Tuesdays opening ceremony.
Aung Min told those present that peace can be restored in Burma as the country is reforming its political situation and started heading towards democracy. He added that deals with ethnic armed groups were crucial to bring the country out of poverty and aid development, and asked KNU leaders to help him maintain a permanent peace.
Mutu Say Poe said that the KNU has been fighting for equal rights through armed struggle for 63 years and that there have been countless Burmese and Karen deaths since the country gained independence.
We want the government to be sincere when they talk about solving political problem, he said. The permanence of peace depends on the sincerity of the government.
Other senior officials from the Burmese government including Immigration and Population Minister Khin Yi and the Karen State Chief Minister Zaw Min also attended the office opening.

YANGON (AFP) - Myanmar aims to restore a stretch of the infamous 'Death Railway' to Thailand which was initially built by Japanese-held prisoners of war, the minister in charge of the scheme told AFP.
The railway was immortalised in the Oscar-winning film The Bridge On The River Kwai which showed the dreadful working conditions endured by tens of the thousands of POWs who built the track during World War II.
A feasibility study on the 105km stretch running from Myanmar's 'Three Pagodas Pass' area to Thailand is scheduled to begin in October, Railway Minister Aung Min told AFP late Saturday.
'We will reopen this (rail)road. The other countries said they would also help us and we will continue working for it,' Mr Aung Min said after peace talks with ethnic Shan rebels.

The last metre gauge diesel locomotive to Myanmar with additional features rolled out from the Golden Rock Railway Workshop here on Friday.
The workshop had bagged an order from the RITES, a Government of India Enterprise under the aegis of Indian Railways, to supply 11 in-service metre gauge locomotives to Myanmar. It had already supplied 10 engines and commissioned them in that country.
The last loco has a number of additional features such as ergonomically designed sleek type control stands, stainless steel perforated roof sheets, LED type reading and classification lamps, roof mounted cab fan, twin beam head lights for better luminosity and visibility and control cabin to suit the working environment of Myanmar Railways.
The Controller of Stores, Southern Railway B.K. Sinha flagged off the loco at a function held at the workshop in the presence of the Chief Workshop Manager P. Mahesh, Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer P. Ravindra Babu and other officials.
The workshop had been exporting in-service metre gauge locos to various countries since 1994. It had dispatched 134 locos till now to Malaysia, Sudan, Senegal, Tanzania, Mali, Benin, Mozambique and Myanmar through RITES/IRCON.
