ว่าไปแล้ว โรงแรมนี้ทำเลดีเยี่ยมสำหรับคนรักรถไฟครับ
จากโรงแรมเดินไปเจดีย์ชเวดากองยังได้ครับ 3.5 กม. เท่านั้น เดินเล่น ๆ ไปเรื่อย ๆ ได้
ขากลับค่อยนั่งแท็กซี่กลับครับ
ตามแผนที่จะเห็นเจดีย์ชเวดากองอยู่ทางทิศตะวันออกของโรงแรม มุมขวาล่างของภาพ

สังเกตจากปล่องควันรถดีเซลราง(RBE) มีรอยเขม่าไปด้านหลังของตู้

เป็นรถไฟทางคู่เสียด้วย

FURTHER details have emerged about the planned redevelopment of Strand Road, with Yangon City Development Committee announcing the upgrade would also see a dual-track railway line constructed.

The Myanmar Times reported earlier this month that the redevelopment will see a 9-kilometre section of Strand Road – from Botahtaung to Kyeemyindaing townships – duplicated to improve access to a container terminal operated by Asia World. Four lanes and the railway line will be built on the Yangon River, or south side, of the existing Strand Road.

A senior committee official said last week 182 buildings, mostly apartments, government offices and warehouses, would be demolished to make way for the road and rail project. Government staff living in the buildings will be shifted to another unspecified site, the official said.

Last month, Popular News Journal reported that 807 government buildings had been slated for demolition.

“The buildings that will be demolished are owned by the government and include government housing, Ministry of Forestry and Ministry of Transportation buildings. The residents will be moved out gradually,” he said, adding that most of the offices are already empty.

The official said last week the project would be implemented by an as-yet unnamed local private company under the build, operate and transfer (BOT) system.

“YCDC is not handling the project,” the official said. “But we will cooperate with the Ministry of Transport and Yangon Division Peace and Development Council on the project. As far as we know the company has not been selected yet.”
An official from Asia World said the company would not be responsible for the road upgrade.

“We are not the contractor for this project but we will assist the Ministry of Transportation in some areas of this project that are not related to the road or railroad construction,” Asia World director Daw Win Win Htwe said on July 9.

The YCDC official said the new sections of road would be constructed with bitumen and will have a 100-tonne capacity. Work on the project would begin this year. The existing section of Strand Road can only handle loads of 60 tonnes.

Each of the four new lanes will be 3.6 metres (12 feet) wide, while each of the railway tracks will be constructed on a 1.8m (6-foot) platform, for a total width of 18m (60 feet), YCDC said.

เจดีย์ที่เห็นบนซ้าย ตอนแรกหวังว่าจะเป็นเจดีย์ชเวดากองครับ แต่องค์เล็กกว่าที่คาด
จึงอาจจะเป็นเจดีย์มหาวิชยะ (Maha Wizaya Pagoda) มากกว่าครับ (อยู่ด้านใต้ของเจดีย์ชเวดากอง)

อย่างไรถ้าน้องชายพี่หนุ่มได้ถ่ายภาพเจดีย์ชเวดากองจาก Hotel Glory มาด้วย ก็รบกวนนำมาให้ชมกันนะครับ

ผมไม่แน่ใจว่าราคาห้องพักฝั่งที่หันไปทางเจดีย์ชเวดากองและทางรถไฟ จะแพงกว่าฝั่งถนน Lower Kemmendine หรือไม่ครับ
