The closure of 2bangkok.com forum have let us foreign railwayfriends miss a lot of information about thai railways. Som questions: when Will the delivery of the 115 New coaches start, and Who long Will the delivery take? Somebody know which train will be the first whith new coaches, and what will be done whith the old a/c sleepingcoaches ?
At last: what about delivery of 50 New diesels ? Will they also be chinesemade? About two years ago I read about plans to invest inn new DMUs for Sprintertrains. Quiet about those. ..
115 Aircon Passengers - CNR Changchun with the first 2 sets (26 carriages) to be delivered in May 2016
For 50 New Diesel Electric Locos with axle load of 16 tons to allow the retirement of GEK, now there is a controversy as many Democrat men said there is ONLY ONE bidder (CNR Qishuyan - the one who produce 20 DE locos of 20 ton axle load for Laem Chabang cargo) ... while SRT insists that the other producers know that they cannot meet the TOR of SRT.
the next on the line is 186 Diesel Electric MUs just like the ones used in Sri Lanka ... and expect Chinese rolling stock makers to offer the deal SRT would not resist.
Thank you Wisarut. 50 diesellocos from China could be similar to the locos delivered to cementtransport ? 186 dieselelectric DMUs is very interesting: most producers allow hydraulic transmissions on DMUS, few allow Electric transmissions.
It looks like SRT Will be a chinese railwaymarket; nothing bad about that, but what about known breakdowns on the 20 diesellocos on the Eastern line: acceptable or not?

For the 20 locos from CSR Qishuyan - they are working quite well even though there is a hiccup on the case of sparking incident which has been corrected ... BTW, there was a level crossing accident but SDA-4 loco from CSR Qishuyan hurts very little though while that ten wheel truck got lots of damage
For the SDA-3 purchased by TPI, it is working quite well but I just felt amazed that the producer declines to compete against CSR Qishuyan - probably because they are also from CSR section
Thanks again. Hopefully there will be a god result of this 50 New diesels, SRT ned them as hurry as possible ! I can se that the Sri Lankan S12 DMUS is dieselelectric with powercars equipped with MTU engines. Hopefully they will look better both exterior and interior if they will be chosen for the Thai marked.

SRT appealing to cabinet to lift the cabinate resolution on 28 July 1998 whcih limit the new recruits to 5 new railway men to 100 retired railway men to cut down the personnel and human resource expenditure including pension funds
Now, there is 11000 railway men left despite of the demand for 16000 railway men .... or even 17000 railway men - need 5-6000 new locomotive drivers and civil work engineers.
Note: I expect Ministry of Finance to oppose the appeal from SRT to recruit more railway men to the bitter end as MoF (creditors) wants more efficient to the point that 1 railway men must accomplish the things that need 20 railway men to do the same job. So, there should be just 850 railway men to do something like 17000 railway men have done.

on the issue of Chumporn - Surat Thani double tracking, here is the way the stations building must be changed:

1.2 Changing the structure and material for the double floor station building (Khao Suan Thurian)
1.3 Repainting - Lamae and Tha Chang)
2. rebuilding the new station buildings for small stations - Wisai, Thung Tako, Pak Tako, Kuan Hin Mui, Ban Duad, Don Thoob, Khao Phanom Baek, Klong Sai
3. rebuilding the new station buildings for middle size stations - Sawee station and Tha Chana station
4. rebuilding the new station buildings for Large stations at grade - Lang Suan station
5. rebuilding the new station buildings for Large stations as elevated station - Chaiya station
6. partial renovating and partial rebuilding of Large station - Surat Thani station
Here is how the coupling of the 115 aircon carriage will be in use so it cannot be interchanged with other carriage for sure as it would not use the AAR Type E coupling but using Semi Permanent coupling just like BTS Skytrain - MRTA Subwaty and Airport Link
AAR Type E will be at the Aircon Power car and the end of First Class Aircon - If something gone wrong in one carriage, the whole set has to be cut

Note on the New CRRC Changchun carriages: they will use on the new train which will use the schedule of SP1/2 but with the new code as SP 9/10 while the SP1/2 train will use the schedule of SP 13/14 - and the SP/13/14 will be dissolved so those JR West carriage will be use in Express 51/52 which will use schedule of Rapid 107/108 while Rapid 107/108 will be the last Northern train - this is the way to meet the greater demand for the Northern trains but cannot come early to catch SP 1/2 which depart at 6 PM.
Now, the upcoming special express train to Ubon will be ready in November 2016 and the upcoming special express train to Nong Khai will be ready in December 2016 - with the stops the following stations:
New Ubon special express 23/24 will stop at Bangkok, Samsen, Bangsue, Bangkhen, Laksi, Donmueng, Rangsit, Ayutthaya, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon
New Nong Khai special express 25/26 will stop at Bangkok, Samsen, Bangsue, Bangkhen, Laksi, Donmueng, Rangsit, Ayutthaya, Khon Kaen, Udonthani, and Nong Khai
For the new Special Express 45/46 from BKK to to Hatyai using CNR Changchun carriages, it will stop for passengers at Bangkok, Samsen, Bangsue, Salaya, Nakhon Pathom, Hua Hin Chumporn, Surat Thani, Thung Song, Phatthalung, and Hatyai though
When SRT is going to introduce CNR Changchun to Special express trains, the following trains will have to be changed for a good reason
1. No more Rapid 107 BKK - Denchai
2. No more Rapid 108 Denchai - BKK
3. No more Express 73 BKK - Sikhoraphum
4. No more Express 74 Sisaket - BKK
5. No more Special Express 37 BKK - Sugei Golok
6. No more Special Express 38 Sugei Golok - BKK
7. Express 71 BKK - Sisaket extended to become Express 71 BKK - Ubon
8. Express 72 Sikhoraphum- BKK extended to become Express 72 Ubon - BKK
9. Special Express 35 BKK - Padang Besar become BKK - Sugei Golok
10. Special Express 36 Padang Besar - BKK become Sugei Golok - BKK
11. Shuttle trains Hatyai - Padang Besar will be the one that cross the border after changing in SP 35/36
12. there is still a big headache for dealing with BKK - Nong Khai to gain more passengers
However, we better wait until the final schedule has been issued though.
