KL Kommuter ของ KTMB อยาก เข้าไปที่ KLIA เลยดำริจะทำทางแยก จากสถานี Labu ที่ มี ทั้งทางคู่และ หลีก 2 ราง เข้า KLIA ดังข่าวต่อไปนี้

'KLIA East @ Labu’ gets government go-ahead: Airport part of 'massive city'

To be called "KLIA [email protected] Labu", the new terminal is slightly closer to central Kuala Lumpur than the present LCCT and will boast connectivity by both road and rail.

A 7km branch road will link it with the North-South Expressway and a 3km spur line will be built from the railway station in Labu -- a stop on the KL-Seremban KTM Komuter route.

Welcoming the project's approval, Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan said the KLIA would be connected to the new terminal by a 7km Express Rail Link (ERL).

Work on Penang Sentral to start soon

GEORGE TOWN: Work on the first phase of Penang Sentral in Butterworth is expected to start before the end of the year when the relocation of hawkers at the current site is completed. Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) director Datuk Ahmad Ibnihajar said the relocation would be carried out soon.

He added that the temporary terminal could accommodate up to 62 hawkers, compared to 50 at the Penang Port Commission's three-storey bus complex destroyed in a 2001 fire.

"We have handed over the temporary hawker centre to the local council, and the relocation process is up to them," he said after handing over school supplies to 300 underprivileged pupils under MRCB's "Pintar" project.

Ahmad, however, said the relocation was only expected to begin after all the stage and express bus operators had moved to the temporary terminal next month.

The temporary terminal was completed in July but to date, only RapidPenang has begun operating there.

Ahmad said work on the first phase, expected to cost RM300 million, should be completed by 2013, comprising bus and taxi terminals, and retail outlets.

The 12.8 Hectar Penang Sentral project is jointly undertaken by Pelaburan Hartanah Bumiputera Berhad (PHBB) and MRCB.

The integrated terminal for rail, road and sea travel is one of many major projects aimed at strengthening Penang's role as a logistics and transportation hub for the Northern Corridor Economic Region.

Tenders to extend RapidKL LRT may be out in Q1

Key players like UEM Builders, IJM Corp, YTL Corp, Ho Hup Holdings, and Loh & Loh Construction are expected to bid

SYARIKAT Prasarana Negara Bhd (SPNB), a unit of the Ministry of Finance Inc, may call for tenders to extend the RapidKL Light Rail Transit (LRT) system by as early as the first quarter of next year.

The LRT covers two lines, namely the Ampang Line (previously, Star LRT) and Kelana Jaya Line (formerly Putra LRT). The assets are owned by SPNB.

The tenders, worth over RM1 billion, is for track and civil works, fare collection, and systems work involving power supply, signaling and communication, industry players said.

Under the plan, the Ampang line will be extended from Bukit Jalil to Puchong, heading towards Subang Jaya, and linking up to the Kelana Jaya line.

The extension will involve 32km of double track and around 24 new stations, a source said.

Currently, the Ampang Line runs from Ampang to the city centre, and then from Sentul Timur towards the National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil, while the Kelana Jaya Line starts from Terminal Putra Gombak up until Kelana Jaya.

"The extension will allow for a more complete integrated rail network. The project may be government-funded or implemented through private finance initiatives," the source added.

Key players like UEM Builders Bhd, IJM Corp Bhd, YTL Corp Bhd, Ho Hup Holdings Bhd, and Loh & Loh Construction Bhd are expected to bid.

It is learned that low-profile railway engineering firm Global Rail Sdn Bhd will make submissions for the systems work, in collaboration with its foreign technology partners. It is eyeing a portion which is worth RM80 million.

The government is also expected to pump prime part of the RM500 million allocation under the RM7 billion economic stimulus package announced by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on November 4, to kick-start the project.

The allocation will also cover KTM Bhd's requirement for new three-car electronic multiple unit sets to cater for the Klang Valley.

KTMB has 60 sets now, but only half can be used. It needs 112 sets.

"Tenders for the train sets are under evaluation as the government is looking at an option to lease the trains to reduce its capital investment on the assets," the source said.

The tenders or lease options will attract manufacturers from Korea, China, Japan and Europe.

Illegals resorting to Komuter

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd's (KTMB) Komuter train service is fast becoming a popular choice of transport for illegal immigrants.

More than 200 of the foreigners were arrested in the trains yesterday.

In a joint operation involving the Immigration and National Registration Departments and KTMB, the foreigners were detained in trains plying the Klang to Kuala Lumpur and Rawang to Kuala Lumpur routes.

Those detained did not have their original passports with them.

KTMB senior manager operation (central region) Mohd Hider Yusoff said this was the second time the operation, code-named Ops Tegas, had been carried out.

He said during the first operation in March last year, 40 illegals were detained.

"This year, we have more personnel deployed to check commuters' identity cards and passports," Hider said yesterday.

He said the majority of those detained were Indonesians (136), followed by Bangladeshis (42) and Myanmar nationals (16).

KTMB losing grip on monopoly, competitor in pipeline

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB), long regarded as an institution in the transport industry, may soon have a competitor.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat announced yesterday that his ministry was considering introducing a second railway operator.

Ong said KTMB, which has been operating the nation's railway service since 1948, had been providing poor service.

He was speaking after launching the Road Safety Marshall Club's wheelchair loan scheme for road accident victims.

"We are studying the feasibility of having a second railway service operator. This is not a foregone conclusion, but we are concerned about the management of the nation's railway infrastructure and assets by KTMB."

He added that the study's findings would be made known by the first quarter of next year. "If not a second operator, then perhaps a structural overhaul and rebranding of KTMB would be in order."

Referring to the Komuter service, he said the number of its trains would be increased from 29 to 36 by March, thus, reducing waiting time to 15 minutes for every train.

In May, he had visited the KTM Sentul depot, where he discovered that only five of the 20 new locomotives from China were in working condition.

Now, he said, there were 18 in working condition, and all 20 should be ready for inter-state service this month.

Ong said a task force would find out who were responsible for buying the 20 locomotives.


He also announced that Indian Railways would conduct an independent audit of the railway system from next month to June.

"Everything from the condition of our tracks to how we have been managing our assets and infrastructure will be scrutinised," said Ong, who wants to raise the standard of rail services to that of Europe and Japan.
Nigerians, Vietnamese and Indian nationals were also detained during the four-and-a-half hour operation, added Hider.

Another Penang Stopwork Order Over Double Track Rail Project

PENANG, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- The Penang state government today announced the issuing of a stopwork order effective Friday to MMC-Gamuda Joint Venture Sdn Bhd following the company's failure to submit a layout plan for the 63 kilometres of tracks in Penang of its Ipoh-Padang Besar electrified railway double track project.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said that if the company failed to abide by the Dec 26 stopwork order, action could be taken against it under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974.

The penalty under the act was a maximum fine of RM50,000 or a five-year jail term or both, and for subsequent offences the fine could be RM500 per day, he told a news conference after Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas presented the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN) award, ..... .

Lim said the stopwork order on construction of the double tracks in Penang was the second issued in two months.

"A relaxation was given to Gamuda in view of the double track project being a national project but after the floods in October, the company has yet to submit the track layout plan," he said.

The state government had issued a stopwork order to MMC-Gamuda Joint Venture on Oct 22 following floods in Jawi said to have been caused by the implementation of the 330-Km Ipoh-Padang Besar electrified double track project.

On another matter, Lim said the state government would, through a study, ensure that it was not denied its right to determine land policies.

"The state government has a choice -- submit to the National Land Council or refer the matter to court. This is because the state government has full authority over land matters, which cannot be disputed by any quarters," he said.

A decision on the study was expected to be announced in a week, he said when commenting on a statement yesterday by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak that state governments could not make decisions on land ownership without referring to the National Land Council.

No LRT stops at three busy spots

Subang Jaya residents with the help of their assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng came up with their proposed route and halts for the extended Putra LRT line into Subang Jaya. However, news is that Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (SPNB) has ignored some of the proposed halts and is going ahead with their own route instead. StarMetro finds out.

Subang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng is upset. Informed sources have told him that Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (SPNB) is bypassing three halts that he and residents had proposed for the extended Putra LRT service into the township.

SPNB is the holding company under the Finance Ministry that owns the rail lines.

“I’ve been told that Prasarana has finalised its own routes and is about to present it to the Cabinet for final approval.

“Based on what they have finalised, they are bypassing the Sunway, Lagoon Perdana and the USJ 1 halts,” said Lee.

He said SPNB would be making a mistake if it excluded the three important halts.

“If Prasarana continues with their finalised route, it definitely won’t be successful, and this will be a mistake like they did with Putra and Star LRT lines,” he said.

Lee said that when news of the Putra LRT line extension into Subang Jaya was first announced by the Prime Minister, he had sat down with residents and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) to draw out the route.

“We presented it to SPNB but it seemed that they never took into consideration our proposal nor consulted the residents who know best,” he continued.

He said based on the current route, SPNB was excluding low and medium-cost areas where people who would take public transport lived.

“Shopping complexes are places that people go to, so the Sunway Pyramid stop is an important one to have. Sunway also has thousands of car park for commuters to park their vehicles,” he said.

“There is no doubt that extending the line into Sunway can be quite expensive but the place is a big catchment area. There’s a wide coverage in just the Lagoon Perdana area alone, especially since Kg Lindungan and Kg Medan are also within close proximity. I would estimate easily 50,000 people there,” Lee said.

“I’m also disappointed with how they would miss out USJ 1 with blocks of low and middle-income flats there. You have to look at the present situation when accessing things.

“For example, the line from Sentul is usually packed mainly because of the lower income groups of people there,” said Lee.

The seven initial halts that were proposed by Lee and the residents are the Subang Jaya KTM station, SS14 and SS15, Bandar Sunway, Lagoon Perdana, USJ 1, between The Summit and Mydin, and finally, on the plot of MPSJ land in USJ 8.

StarMetro had reported Lee as saying that he hoped SPNB would look into ways to expand the routes such as including new areas and not change those that have been proposed.

The route by SPNB is said to be at the Subang Jaya KTM station, before heading to Jalan Jengka and Kesas highway, and ending up at Persiaran Kewajipan.

Residents Committee (JKP) Zone 5 (which covers The Summit right up to Angsana Apartments in USJ 1) chairman Kamarudin Rasol said he was disappointed to learn of the news.

“I believe all residents in my area support the initial proposal by Datuk Lee to have a halt in USJ 1. It gave them a glimmer of hope because they can take the LRT in future and leave their cars at home. At present, the jam here is getting from bad to worse especially during peak hours at 8am, noon and 5pm,” he said.

“Here at Angsana, there are 10 blocks of low-cost apartments and a lot of residents use the buses to get to work. We thought we could save on petrol and no longer need to bear with the jam in future so this (news) comes as a disappointment,” said Kamarudin.

JKP Zone 4 chairman Goh Hai Thun feels the same.

“Residents would definitely use LRT over cars once there’s a hub here. The line would serve at least a population of 200,000 stretching from residential areas of PJS 5 to 11. Moreover, these are middle-income group residents who rely on public transportation a lot. Not forgetting the Monash and Sunway College students who number to about 10,000 to 15,000 a day. If the LRT is convenient, people would prefer using it as a congestion relief,” said Goh.

Lee said he hoped Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy would look into the matter that take into account residents’ needs.

“The prime minister had also said that whatever petrol subsidy that had been withdrawn would go into upgrading of infrastructure, and this is one of them. So it’s no excuse for SPNB to say the cost is expensive and they do not have budget,” he said.

ตอนนี้ Hartasuma Sdn Bhd เจ้าของ Putra LRT ได้สั่งรถไฟฟ้า จากบอมบาดิเออร์แต่เป็นโรงงานที่เม็กซิโก เพราะ NAFTA ทำให้ผลิตรถ PUTRA LRT แบบ 4 ตู้ ที่เม็กซิโกราคาถูกกว่าผลิตที่แคนาดา

ขณะนี้เริ่มมีการส่งมอบรถไฟฟ้า 4 ตู้ แบบไม่มีคนขับจากโรงงานบอมบาดิเออร์ ที่เม็กซิโกให้ Rapid KL สาย Kelana Jaya แล้ว กะ ว่าตะได้ครบแล้วทำพิธีเปิดการเดินรถด้วยรถแบบ 4 ตู้แบบไม่มีคนขับ ในวันที่ 29 กันยายน 2009 ตอนนี้กำลัง Testrun อยู่

เส้นทางรถไฟ ที่ Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) ซึ่งเป็นบริษัทที่กระทรวงกลารคลังถือหุ้นทั้งหมด ที่จะขยายเส้นทางออกไปนั้น สาย Ampang และ สาย Kelana Jaya เริมเอามาติดตั้ง 15 กันายนนี้ โดยสาย Ampang (Star LRT) จะขยายจากปลายทางที่ Sri Petaling station, ผ่าน ย่าน Kinrara และ Puchong ก่อนสิ้นระยะที่ Putra Heights ระยะทาง 17.7 กม. มี 13 สถานี

ส่้วน สาย Kelana Jaya (Putra LRT) จะเริ่มแต่ปลายรางที่ Kelana Jaya station, ผ่าน Subang Jaya และ USJ (มหาวิททยาลัยซูบังจายา) ก่อนไปหมดระยะที่ Putra Heights ระยะทาง 17.7 กม. มี 13 สถานี

ทุกสถานีมี ลิฟทื์ บรรไดเลื่อน โทรศัพท์สาธารณะ สุเหร่า และ ห้องน้ำสาธารณะ และ เครื่องอำนวยความสะดวกสำหรับคนพิการ (Orang Kelainan Upaya - OKU ในภาษามลายู) เช่น ทางลาด ลิพท์ กระเบื้องพื้นนูนเพื่อนำทาง เคาเตอร์ ขายตั๋วที่เตี้ย และห้องน้ำคนพิการ

งบประมาณ เบื้องต้นประมาณ 7 พันล้านริงกิต (77000 ล้านบาท) โดยจะออกพันธบัตร และ จะมีการเปิดประมูลระบบด้วย

ขยายทางรถไฟ KLIA Express ไป Low Cost CarierTerminal (LCCT)

ERL กำลังวางราง 2 กิโลเมตร เพื่อขยายเส้นทางไป Low cost Terminal ของ KLIA โดยกะว่าจะเพิ่ม ผู้โดยสารอีก 15% จาก 3 ล้าน 7 แสนคน ต่อปี เป็น 4 ล้าน 2 แสนคน ต่อปี ในปี 2011 โดยกะจะเสร็จภายในเดือนกันยายน 2011 ในงบประมาณ 2 พันล้านริงกิต (22000 ล้านบาท) ขณะนี้ บริษัท ERL ได้นำรถเมล์มาป้อน LCCT จากสถานี Salak Tinggi โดยเริ่มตั้งแต่ 15 กันยายนนี้

LCCT อยู่ห่างจาก Main Terminal ไป 1.5 กิโลเมตร จุได้ 30 ล้านคนต่อปี และ สามารถขยายเป็น 45 ล้านคนต่อไปได้ โดยใช้รถไฟ 12 ชุดรถ
